Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Jonathan W. Hitesman as an assistant chiefimmigration judge in June 2020. Judge Hitesman earned a Bachelor of Science in 1990 from Norwich University, a Juris Doctor in 1997 from the University of Hawaii, and a Master of Lawsin 2004 from the Georgetown University Law Center. From 1990 to 2020, he served on activeduty with the U.S. Marine Corps, first as an infantry officer and later as a judge advocate. In 2020, he retired as a senior appellate military judge with the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. Judge Hitesman is a member of the Hawaii State Bar and the Minnesota State Bar.
